Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited (Kenya Re) is a leading reinsurer in the region and is listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). It is ISO 9001: 2015 Certified and is rated B (Fair) by A.M Best and AA by the Global Credit Rating Company (GCR). Kenya Re now seeks to recruit and fill the positions of Regional Manager/Principal Officer for its regional office in Uganda.


The successful candidate will be the Regional Manager/Principal Officer of the Regional Office. He/she will be required to offer services that will enable the Corporation grow the premium income by at least 30% per year in the East Africa region. He/she will report to the Regional Manager (Reinsurance Operations) at the Head office in Nairobi, Kenya.



He/she will also be required to be accountable for, but not limited, to the following key areas:
• Setting up the office that will be based in Uganda, ensuring that all legal and statutory regulatory requirements are complied with.
• Developing business strategies and operational budgets for growth and profitability.
• Managing reinsurance business in the region and providing technical support and advice on strategic directions to management.
• Developing strategic marketing plans in line with Corporation’s mandate and Board expectations.
• Sourcing of facultative and treaty reinsurance in Uganda to support the Corporation’s marketing strategies.
• Preparing and managing of marketing activities and budgets for the markets in Uganda to support corporate marketing strategies.
• Planning for and developing staff in the Regional office.
• Managing the office for optimal operational performance.
• Providing Management and the Board with information on operational aspects of the Office.
• Liaising with the General Manager in charge of (Reinsurance Operations), to ensure participatory approach to the management of the reinsurance business to effectively satisfy the needs of the Corporation’s clients and of the business mandate.
• Managing statistical and actuarial information and market intelligence reports.
• Dealing with all aspects of allocated markets including but not limited to premium, claims, cash-calls, commutations, recoveries and debt collection processes.
• Any other duties that may arise from time to time relating to the Corporation’s activities.



• Applicants should be holders of a Bachelors degree in Business, Insurance, Marketing, or related fields.
• They should be holders of Advanced Diploma in insurance or its equivalent and hold membership in recognized insurance professional bodies.
• Possession of an MBA or Masters in a related field of expertise will be an added advantage.
• They should have twelve years of relevant experience, eight of which should have been at senior management level gained in a reputable Organization preferably in Reinsurance or Financial Institution.


• The right candidate for this position must have the ability to think strategically and to design long term plans in addition to being a visionary leader. They must have proven intellectual leadership in managing people and financial resources and must have established a reputation for outstanding performance. Other key skills include:
• Excellent interpersonal, management and communication skills;
• Excellent organization skills and highly confidential;
• Team player with impeccable integrity;
• Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications; and
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
