KENYA RE SPONSORS ROYAL NAIROBI GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Corporation is very cognizant on the need for support for worthwhile initiatives aimed at creating and sustaining mutually beneficial business relationships. 

 

On 2nd February 2019, the Corporation joined other insurance/ reinsurance companies in sponsoring the Royal “Wanabima’’ golf tournament held at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club. The tournament that was held for the second time after last year attracted over 180 golfers. The purpose of the event, according to the sponsors, was to raise industry awareness about the critical role of the insurance industry.

Other event sponsors were Africa Trade Insurance Agency (ATI), Continental Reinsurance, AAR Healthcare, Resolution Insurance Company, Minet, Reinsurance Solutions as well as individuals from the insurance industry.

Kenya Re was ably represented at the tournament by our Assistant Manager, Local Business Unit, Mr. Linus Kowiti.

 

 

 

THE NIKO FITI JOURNEY

The Niko Fiti Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) flagship programme by Kenya Reinsurance Corporation was launched in the year 2011 and has journeyed through different phases over the years. Initially the campaign focused on providing clinical assessment, orthopaedic mobility and assistive devices and providing public education on disability through public awareness and sensitization campaigns. In 2016, the campaign extended to include persons with visual & hearing (sensory) disabilities and physiological/mental disabilities and aimed to ultimately grow awareness around disabilities while championing PWDs inclusion and participation in national building activities.

LONG SERVING EMPLOYEES FETED AT STAFF PARTY

In line with Kenya Re’s tradition, the annual staff party is a rich mix of several activities are lined up for staff with one of the most anticipated being the long serving awards. Eight employees were recognized for having served the Corporation for between 20 to 30 years which is no mean feat to achieve. A total of 16 employees were recognised during the event meant to inspire the entire work force.

KENYA RE RETAKAFUL COMPLIANT

Kenya Re received certification from the Shariah Supervisory Board after an assessment carried out by the body to ascertain the compliance of Kenya Re Retakaful business to Shariah principles. The review was for the period ended 31/12/2016 and was conducted to form an opinion as to whether the institution had complied with Shariah principles and with rulings issued by the Shariah Supervisory Board.

KIBIKO SECONDARY SCHOOL MENTORSHIP

Every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor. In this life, everyone has a mentor and if not, one has atleast someone to whom you look up to derive inspiration and motivation to do better in a particular matter. During the Kenya Re tree planting activity held on 16th May 2017, members of the board of directors and staff took some before the start of the tree planting exercise to give some advice and encouragement to students of Kibiko Secondary School in Ngong. 

KENYA RE LEAPS 4% UP DURING THE 2017 HALF YEAR FINANCIAL POSTING

Kenya Reinsurance Corporation posted a 4% percent rise in the first-half pretax profit, boosted by a 6% rise in gross premiums written even as net premium earned grew to 9%. The financial results were presented during the investor briefing held at the Intercontinental Hotel on 4th August 2017.
