Four words from H.E. Prof. Hon. Christopher Andrew Langat, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Cรดte d'Ivoire, now frame one of the boldest commercial diplomacy plays on the continent.

On 30th July 2026, a section of Kenya Re CEO Summit Organising Committee, led by Chairman Samuel K. Ruugia, was received at the Kenyan Embassy in Abidjan. What began as a courtesy visit became something considerably more consequential, a joint commitment to plant Kenya Re firmly in the West African market. The instrument is the 3rd Kenya Re CEO Summit โ€” Abidjan, 9thโ€“11th November 2026. Themed โ€œDriving sustainable profitability in agriculture, health and motor insurance across Africaโ€
In the Ambassador's own framing, the Summit will convene Chief Executives from insurance, reinsurance and allied financial institutions across West Africa, a preeminent platform for policy dialogue, market integration and investment partnerships. The objective, as he put it, is unequivocal, to entrench Kenya Re as a household name in West Africa, and by so doing, to advance Kenya's commercial footprint, economic diplomacy and regional leadership. The Embassy has not merely endorsed this, Summit. It has taken ownership of it; government mobilization to secure high-level representation, Ministerial and institutional outreach, Diplomatic Corps and development partners and other resources mobilization.

Beneath the diplomacy sits Kenya Re's core proposition. This is a CEO Summit built around a single conviction: great enterprises do not avoid risk, they price it, structure it and master it. Kenya Re exists to give African business the confidence to move boldly, and the reinsurance strength to move safely.

To H.E. Prof. Langat and the entire Embassy team, thank you for the exceptional reception and the immense support extended to Kenya Re. Kenya Re team also comprised of Mary Mwendwa (Vice Chairman), Irene Mwihaki (Regional accountant) and Graham Simiren (Member and Procurement executive)
