Dr. Adam Hamisi Mwamburi (Ph.D) is a respected Sheikh, Imam, academician, researcher, and Muslim community leader with over 15 years of experience in university-level teaching, public religious engagement, and community development. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and Swahili, making him a highly versatile communicator across academic, religious, and social contexts.


Dr. Adam holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Islamic Studies and Other Civilisations from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Kuala Lumpur. He also earned a Master’s Degree (M.A) in Islamic Studies from The Muslim College in London, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.A./Education) in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies from the International Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU). His academic training has taken him across three continents, including long-term residence and study in Malaysia (6 years) and the United Kingdom (5 years).


A subject matter expert in Islamic Law, Islamic Finance, Islamic Jurisprudence, and Arabic Language, Dr. Adam has served in various influential academic and advisory roles. He is currently a Shariah Board Member at KCB SAHL, the Islamic banking division of Kenya Commercial Bank, where he advises on Islamic financial models such as Murabaha, Musharakah, Takaful etc. He is also a licensed marriage officer recognized by the Government of Kenya and an external examiner for Islamic Studies programs at institutions such as Mount Kenya University and the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM).


Dr. Adam is a member of the Council of Scholars (Majlis Al-Ulamaa) at Jamia Mosque, Nairobi — Kenya’s largest and most prominent mosque. He is also the Chief Advisor to the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya (CIPK) in the Taita Taveta Chapter. His influence extends to the pulpit as a Khateeb and preacher in various mosques across Nairobi and Kenya’s coastal region, in addition to making regular appearances on Islamic TV platforms such as Horizon TV.


In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Adam has pursued professional training in governance, public-private partnerships (PPP), and Islamic finance, including certification through AAOIFI (Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions) in Bahrain. His research interests span academic scholarship, peace and conflict resolution, teacher training, and interfaith and international relations. As a published scholar, Dr. Adam has authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and is searchable on platforms such as Google Scholar, Amazon, and YouTube. His intellectual contributions continue to shape Islamic thought, Islamic Finance, community leadership, and educational development within and beyond Kenya. His international exposure includes visits and academic engagements in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Uganda, Tanzania, and Lesotho.
