Kenya Re has set up an Academy aimed at enhancing industry knowledge and skills as well as supporting the professional development of our experts. The Academy will target Kenya Re customers, who will benefit from the initiative free of charge, for comprehensive trainings on reinsurance and direct insurance products, aimed at bridging knowledge gaps in the Industry. On 18th October 2023, the Academy conducted a seminar for its Non-Life clients that was themed - Fundamentals of Reinsurance and Claims Management. The seminar had an overwhelming participation of 33 participants drawn from 25 diverse Insurance companies. The Seminar was officially opened by the Group Managing Director (MD), Dr. Hillary Wachinga. The Group MD thanked participants for registering for the seminar and underscored Kenya Re’s commitment to quality training for the market through the Academy. He further urged the participants to consider channeling more good business to Kenya Re. Participants were privileged to gain insights from the lead trainers – Fraciah Wainaina of Actuarial department and Joel Irungu of Claims department. This was the second seminar held in the Academy after the Life Assurance technical one held on 4th October 2023.
The Group MD was accompanied to the seminar by General Manager – Reinsurance Operations, Beth Nyaga, Manager, Marketing & Business Development – Jane Odipo and Ag. Manager – Claims Management – Rose Waganda. The training was organized, coordinated and facilitated by Manager Marketing & Business Development (Kenya) & Client Training Coordinator – Lucy Kagwiria.
